Dear Family and Friends,
This past week, we had a three day weekend. With big trips planned for later in the summer, we decided to take it easy and stay near home. Both Nicolas and Elyse were invited to a birthday party for an English boy at their school about a half hour from home in Esparron. Meanwhile, Julie, Joe, and Nathaniel spent the time exploring the surrounding valley and nearby Esparrone lake.
Between rain showers, we explored a small 13th century church and Roman-Gallic watch tower.
June in Provence is full of flowers, and in particular red poppies (think Monet).
Although the lake was constructed in 1964, the Chateau of Esparron dates back to the 13th century and has remained the property of the Castellane family ever since.
