On occasion, our small village of Pierrevert hosts events of its own. In recent weeks, we have held flea markets and served as the staging area for a rally car race that was going through the area. This week, there was a medival festival held in the old town upon which we happened to chance as Julie dropped Nathaniel off for a birthday party.
There were stands filled with various food products, including old-style pasteries, local honey, and cheeses. There were also booths selling various medival weaponry, some for play and others for display such as medal helmets and real swords. Of course, everone associated with the event as well as some of the locals were dressed in period costumes.
Although we didn't have much time to spend at the fair, Julie and the kids were able to watch a medival musical group perform with their traditional instruments.
Elyse discovered some maiden costumes for sale and bought herself a lady's headdress. She and Joe were also able to watch a brief archery demonstration.
In any case, this was an unexpected diversion on a Saturday afternoon just a few minutes walk from our house. Maybe next time we'll even stay for the medival banquet!
Best Wishes,
Joe, Julie, Nicolas, Elyse, and Nathaniel
