Dear Family and Friends, Though we miss our family at this time of year, we have very much enjoyed this Christmas season so far. One of the things that has made this time so memorable is our friends from ITER and Church. The weather has also cooperated, snowing in Manosque for only the second time in 30 years.
Last week, Julie and her friend Jody held a Christmas carol sing-along at our house with people from ITER and the International School. While the kids watched Christmas shows on the computer courtesy of Kevin's orb, the adults practiced carols in English, German, French, and Latin.
On Saturday, we attended our Branch's Christmas party. Dinner was followed by the customary passing of a plate of French cheeses. In an effort to help him try new things, Joe offered Nicolas a substantial sum (5 Euro) to eat a little of each cheese. Unfortunately, Nicolas made the mistake of starting out with the Rocquefort, a blue cheese made of sheep's milk that tastes something like the bottom of a rotting log. Afterwards, Nicolas said it was the worst thing he had ever tasted (the video only captures the initial reaction; the full impact hit him a few seconds later). Even the Members who witnessed the dare agreed that Rocquefort is much better when not eaten by itself.
The primary then put on its annual Christmas program. Elyse was Mary, Nicolas was a wise man (top row), and Nathaniel alternated between wise man and clown due to a little incident involving boogies mid-way through the second act.
We wish you a joyous Christmas filled with the love of our Savior.
Joyeux Noel and Bonne Annee!
Joe, Julie, Nicolas, Elyse, and Nathaniel
